Inspired by the beauty and intricate details of nature, artist Karen Barton captures the essence of what she observes in the world around her, especially in her own backyard. "I am particularly drawn to the delicate beauty of hummingbirds and butterflies," says Karen. Her paintings are created through a blend of observation, imagination, photography, and research. Using both brushwork and a palette knife, she manipulates the paint to create contrasting colors and textures. From bold expressions to subtle color nuances and intricate details, her work is represented in galleries across the United States. When she's not painting, Karen enjoys tending to her flower garden and baking artisanal breads.
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the beauty and intricate details of nature, as well as the bold and subtle color nuances I observe in the world around us. I am particularly drawn to the delicate beauty of hummingbirds and butterflies, which I frequently paint. However, I do not limit myself to these subjects, as I find beauty in many different forms.
As an oil painter who also works with acrylics, I enjoy designing pieces that are both trendy and elegant, creating the perfect focal point for any room. My goal is for the artwork to be timeless, drawing the viewer in and sparking curiosity.
