Artist
John Diehl Bridgewater, Massachusetts

John Diehl was trained as a classical pianist before ever picking up a brush or palette knife. That love of music permeates his art. John uses landscapes as a means to express feeling rather than capture a scene. Among other emotions, he portrays "joy, peace, happiness, and solitude." John estimates there are 15,000 brushstrokes in each of his paintings. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Florence in Italy, and currently lives in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

    Artist Statement

Born in 1982, John Diehl is a professional contemporary artist. John was trained as a classical pianist before ever picking up a brush or palette knife. That love of music permeates his art.

Earning a BA in art from Bridgewater State University he furthered his studies at both the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Florence in Italy. At the age of 28 he is early in his career, exhibits nationally, and his paintings are collected across the United States from Boston’s Newbury St. and New York City’s Time Square to downtown Los Angeles.

“I use landscapes as a means to express feeling as opposed to capturing a scene. I’m portraying joy, peace, happiness, and solitude. As an artist I create images that are full of vibrancy and movement. My paintings live and breathe on the wall. The trees soar, the grass moves, and the sky fills the room.” – John Diehl
