I have been making drawings for many years as a form of exploration. They did not, however inform the paintings I was making at that time. Recently I began to explore the possibility of these simple drawings becoming paintings in their own right. Mysteriously they seem to want to be here now and they want to come through me. The more I gave them expression, they became clearer and the joy kicked in. The more the shapes appeared followed by the elucidating lines, the more I realized there was no turning back - it had me with a truth I have never experienced before.
The process of creating these paintings is revelatory as I paint, remove, overpaint, cut apart and reassemble each piece.
I never know where the process will take me... I only know that I fall in love anew each time I surrender and accept the guidance that is just on the other side of control.
