George’s paintings are inspired by his native Panama, where he was born and raised. The artworks are quiet, thoughtful representations of both city and country life. It might surprise the viewer, given the subtle sophistication of George’s paintings, to learn that he has also been a professional animator with the Walt Disney Company for over 30 years. He directed the 1988 feature length animated film Oliver and Co., and worked on other renowned projects including The Lion King. Now, George’s professional focus is on animation for Disney theme parks and special projects in China. When he’s not animating for Disney, he is painting on location in exciting locales including Shanghai and Panama, or from his home in Southern California.

About The Artist
I am currently an Animation Director working as a contractor for Walt Disney Imagineering, the group that designs the Disney Theme Parks. I have been with the Walt Disney Company for thirty four years first as an Feature animator then as a Director. In 1988 I directed Oliver and Co, a full length animated feature and have worked as an animator and director on numerous other projects including the Lion King.
My work is directly inspired by the people and landscapes of Panama and the feelings of great affection I have for this country. I try to the best of my ability to capture in my paintings the beauty of this inspiring country.
I’ve taken numerous workshops and classes in Los Angeles including classes with Steve Huston and Ken Auster. My primary inspirations are John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorrolla and the Californian Plein Air movement - a look and feel that I bring to the landscapes and people of Panama.
