You have done orchids justice in a way that is not often is as though they are floating lightly across the page, barely even whispering. Stunning!

Hi, Thanks for your comment! Some books I would recommend would be Jean Haines, and Shirley Trevena. Michelle Brown as a great online course as well. Hope that helps!

Comments About This Piece

This painting is part of my 'Poppies en Masse' series. I use only high quality, heavy watercolour paper, and high quality paints to achieve vibrant colours and saturation.

Watercolor painting

Watercolor paint is made of pigments suspended in a water-based solution. Watercolor, which refers to both the medium and the finished artwork, is typically applied to paper. It is translucent, and appears luminous on the surface of the paper. Watercolor painting is a very old medium, dating back to the Renaissance when it was used primarily for botanical and wildlife illustration.

Paper is a very common surface for all types of artwork, including photography, printmaking, drawing and painting. Art paper varies in thickness and color. Read the notes section to learn more about the paper used to create this artwork. If not noted as framed, most paper artwork will require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
