This painting is in my farmland series.  It is inspired by my many jaunts to the countryside to photograph and sketch farms and pastures.  It has many watercolor textures created by dribbling water for the clouds and splattering paint for the foreground field.  Tiny barns are in the distant background enticing the viewer's eye to move throughout the painting.

Getting to Know Judy

For Judy Mudd, creating a work of art means much more than simply reproducing something she sees. “It is more than painting a subject, it is expressing a feeling,” she explains. Judy develops her paintings with thorough reconnaissance work. She goes out on photo shoots in a variety of atmospheric conditions, sketches outdoors, takes notes, and completes color and value studies. From there, back in the studio, she lets the paintbrush guide her. Outside of painting, Judy also runs a real estate business with her husband. In many ways, her work in real estate can be seen via the architectural influences in her watercolors.
