About this artwork

Artist Fatemeh Kian used a unique technique to create the patterned backdrop in this gentle garden scene. She describes it as negative painting, where she used plastic wrap to block sections of the composition to achieve depth with color and form. She then painted in the flowers and lily pads. The result is a lovely patterned pond with flowers, says Fatemeh.
