This piece was inspired by the wild rabbits that emerge at dusk in the artist's yard, particularly in early spring. She was captivated by the simple beauty of the hare and wanted to capture it in a simplified style evocative of Japanese woodblock prints.

Amy Rattner is a Bay Area artist who paints vibrant animal portraits inspired by the American southwest.
