I was amazed by this young boy dressed in a homemade Pierrot's costume at a local fall festival. He seemed so exhausted with all the activities he took part in and treats he ate up. So he just fell asleep right there, sitting on a hay stack beside a barn wall. The rain had started and the paint on his face got patchy. Then the little Pierrot woke up.

This piece is painted with Grumbacher professional pigments on Strathmore heavy weight artistic paper. The artwork is coated with an invisible layer of archival spray, which protects watercolor art from fading.

Getting to Know Suzanna

Suzanna Orlova exclusively uses shades of red and black in her paintings. This is largely because she was born color blind. Her vision deficiency did not stop her from being interested in painting at a young age, and honing her skills as a self-taught artist. Suzanna’s work is haunting, eerie, and emotional. The painterly realism she employs in capturing her subjects is technically remarkable for the water-based media she uses. Bordering on surrealism, each painting leaves the viewer feeling deeply moved. Suzanna lives and works on Vancouver Island, Canada.
