My visual concept for this painting was the stark contrast of white sails against a dark background of trees with a back lit sunset sky. The story is all about the beauty of the sailboats gliding past the viewer. There is one sailboat docked and, barely visible, cabins and campers under the trees on the bank. This painting is created with the finest professional watercolor materials available.

It is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Judy

For Judy Mudd, creating a work of art means much more than simply reproducing something she sees. “It is more than painting a subject, it is expressing a feeling,” she explains. Judy develops her paintings with thorough reconnaissance work. She goes out on photo shoots in a variety of atmospheric conditions, sketches outdoors, takes notes, and completes color and value studies. From there, back in the studio, she lets the paintbrush guide her. Outside of painting, Judy also runs a real estate business with her husband. In many ways, her work in real estate can be seen via the architectural influences in her watercolors.
