About this artwork

Mount Diablo is a majestic presence throughout California's Bay Area, says artist Catherine McCargar. In this painting, she captured a glimpse of the mountain from a hilly trail in the Sugarloaf Open Space. I used a painterly impressionistic style to convey the abundant variety of texture and color in this natural area. It's an exciting mix of soft and deep purples, sunny golds, and cool sage greens.
