My inspiration was this beautiful setting of a young woman in Istanbul sitting in a café window making yufka. The background was rich with tapestries and intricate woven fabrics. People would stop and watch her through the window. She was always smiling. This painting is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Lanie

 Lanie Widmar paints realistic abstracts of landscapes, ranging from European and South American villages to the plains of her native southwestern home. Using just enough pictorial imagery to suggest reality, she strives to portray the essence of a scene, allowing the viewer to participate with his or her imagination. Lanie’s process involves photographing, sketching and painting studies en plein air. She loves to travel and is an enthusiastic belly dancer.
