About this artwork
I really enjoy combining realism with very impressionistic, almost abstract brushwork. The areas of this painting that are loosely interpreted are meant to enhance the realism of the sunlit mountainside and provide a very expressive artistry to the painting. It's a sensitive balance. This painting also features a very limited color palette - a play off of the cool french ultramarine blue with only neutral tones. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.
