So often as I drive along back roads, I’ll see a tree planted right in the middle of a field. Clearly a windbreaker for farmers, I’m always taken in by the way the tree accentuates the open space. It also draws attention to the beautiful tree form of that single specimen. The open, expansive feeling is what I aimed to capture in this piece. It is painted on heavyweight watercolor paper with deckled edges. It will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Jill

Jill E Poyerd brings “peaceful, contemplative moments” to life on the canvas. She approaches the canvas with little preparation, instead allowing herself total freedom to create. Both her watercolor and oil painting works depict gorgeous scenes of nature with a style distinctly her own. Something as common as a tree appears soft and ethereal through Jill’s painterly style.
