"On our fall trip to Vermont to look at foliage, we happened to see the village birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge," says Bill. "It is nothing more than what was once the general store, a church and a collection of surrounding farms. This painting, with its warmly colored trees and barn, is looking down Calvin Coolidge Road."
Ellicott City, Maryland
Bill Kreitlow is a longtime lover of watercolor. He began experimenting with the medium in high school, and has continued to explore its properties and test its limits. Bill uses translucent layers of paint to create the effects of light, water, and atmosphere. His images capture serene natural vistas at seemingly magical moments. Bill finds inspiration in glassy water and wispy clouds, and uses his own photographs taken on day trips and vacations as source material. Though the images are a great starting point, the final paintings are always subject to Bill’s own interpretive lens.
