We frequent a hotel that not only has all ocean-front rooms, but a dining room with a view and a covered porch with rocking chairs. My original intent was a grouping of three chairs with an outdoor dining area and view of the ocean. However, there were too many distractions in the photo so I simplified it to a patio on the beach with nothing but breaking waves to see. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Bill

Bill Kreitlow is a longtime lover of watercolor. He began experimenting with the medium in high school, and has continued to explore its properties and test its limits. Bill uses translucent layers of paint to create the effects of light, water, and atmosphere. His images capture serene natural vistas at seemingly magical moments. Bill finds inspiration in glassy water and wispy clouds, and uses his own photographs taken on day trips and vacations as source material. Though the images are a great starting point, the final paintings are always subject to Bill’s own interpretive lens.
