About this artwork

Artist Catherine McCargar based this painting off of a plein air piece she created while standing in the middle of this walking path and horse trail. I had to step aside from time to time for the passing horses, she jokes. Returning to her studio, she painted this work, focusing more attention on the details and playing up the contemporary color scheme with rich purple shadows.
