This piece was based on a scene spotted on the side road early one morning when a thick fog had settled over the area. Fog, like snow, seems to muffle sounds. Everything was so quiet. Fog also neutralizes colors so that your focus turns to the soft yet dominant values, such as the wonderful tree draping over the water. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Jill

Jill E Poyerd brings “peaceful, contemplative moments” to life on the canvas. She approaches the canvas with little preparation, instead allowing herself total freedom to create. Both her watercolor and oil painting works depict gorgeous scenes of nature with a style distinctly her own. Something as common as a tree appears soft and ethereal through Jill’s painterly style. Fun fact: she’s quite a history buff and loves reading historical biographies.
