In Native American tradition, the owl is sacred and the mere appearance of the animal signifies a caution, or a sign of good fortune. My experience has been the latter. I have always had a sense of blessing whenever gifted with an owl's presence. I find most people feel the same, which explains the special, growing attraction the owl holds in today’s world.
Mark McKnight is one with the outdoors. From traveling to the Amazon and living with migratory river indians to experiencing the mystique of the Pacific Northwest, Mark loves to capture magnificent moments and extend the memory through the printed form. His ongoing photo series titled Owl People derives from Native American tradition where the owl’s presence holds a sacred place. Fun fact: When Mark’s not capturing still images, he shoots television programs as the Director of Photography. The man simply can not get away from the camera!
