Both surfers and photographers love to work at dawn and dusk, and I think this image shows exactly why. By working in the waves at dawn, I'm able to capture the early morning angled sun piercing through the back of the wave, giving me a green-to-yellow-to-blue transition. I'm not surfing while taking photos like this, but rather standing in the crash zone, waiting to be pummeled by the next set. But it is a labor of love, and being able to share the most beautiful part of a wave with those who may never have surfed, is my passion and obsession. Energy and power beyond compare, but at the same time, beautiful and graceful.
