Simon Lee
Ipswich, United Kingdom

Simon Lee is interested in the things that get ignored, go unnoticed or are simply too 'everyday' to be picked up by most people as they continue with their busy lives. Never posed or modelled, his work shows the humanity within each of us in all its frailty, strength, humour, hope and oddness. His strong personal vision of the world and its inhabitants allows him to take candid photographs on the streets, in shopping centres, and around the countryside of our world. His ethos can be summed up by fellow photographer Matt Hardy: "Beauty can be seen in all things; seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.”

My first day at UGallery, it's like going to school for the first time. Shoelaces done up, check; tie on straight, check; hair combed, check. Ready to spend lunchtime in detention, check. Perhaps I can use those lunchtime detentions to ensure I add some more photographs to my UGallery collection. Thanks so much for having a look. Simon

Open Edition

Certain pieces of artwork on UGallery, mostly photography and printmaking, are labeled as either limited edition or open edition. Pieces that are in a limited edition are produced in a set limited quantity. Open edition artworks are not limited in quantity and can be reproduced indefinitely. In both cases, each piece in the edition is identical and is considered an original. Limited edition works are generally more valuable because of the limited number available. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
