About

Artwork

From the REMIX series, these are two pieces of analog film layered into one slide. The title reflects respective locations.

Alex Ember

San Francisco, California

Alex is a photographic artist living and working in San Francisco. He skillfully captures enticing patterns, textures, and shapes that he encounters in daily life. Alex often “remixes” these images, a self-developed process in which he takes two pieces of analog film, layers them on a slide, and photographs them. The resulting images have an atypical depth, and require the viewer to embark on a visual investigation upon encountering each dynamic photograph.

Alex's "New Mexico" is great in person and UGallery did a great job customizing this for me - thanks to both for a vibrant piece in my living room! Thanks, Joe
