Mist and fog shroud two silhouetted trees in Central Park on a cold winter night, their branches curving around each other in a harmonious fashion. Using a long exposure, artist Adam Garelick captured soft rays of light spreading out among the branches. Shot with a Hasselblad camera on medium format film and scanned digitally at the highest resolution.

Adam Garelick

West Hartford, Connecticut

Adam Garelick enjoys taking photographs that challenge the viewers’ perceptions of certain subjects. His photographs of New York try to capture a much quieter city than the fast-paced metropolis most people picture. To capture his unique snapshots, he primarily shoots late at night and works in black-and-white photography. The photography of artists like Stephen Shore and Robert Adams continue to influence his work. When he’s not photographing, he tries to be outdoors as much as possible; he enjoys golfing, running and hiking. Even during these activities, he looks for new subjects to photograph. He currently lives in Connecticut.
