About
This
Artwork

This is a double self-portrait I shot using a tripod. I took this in my kitchen, first laying on the kitchen table. When I was satisfied with the results, I changed outfits and took more images. I then carefully combined the images in Photoshop.

Sarah Clements

Joplin, Missouri

Sarah Clement’s artistic process is best described by a Thomas Merton’s quote, “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” She draws inspiration from history, mythology, literature, and religion. Sarah continually finds beauty in subtle and obscure places, and is happiest when she creates new worlds inspired by old worlds. Well-staged photography can transport you into a different universe. Sarah’s work feels like a real life version of living in a Pre-Raphaelite painting. Her portraits are magical, romantic, mysterious, and a little dangerous.
