This image was shot in Dublin, Ireland in 2012. The opaque section of the glass offering privacy to the restaurant guests worked well for me as a photographer. It offered me room to compose the image without worrying about being indiscreet with my subjects. That is my biggest challenge with street photography. I want to get close to my subjects because I use normal to wide-angle lenses, but I don't want to be seen shooting as it will ruin the spontaneity. So it goes.
Pedro Cesar is a Portuguese street photographer currently living in Sweden. His work is based on the constant search for aesthetic moments in everyday life. When Pedro comes upon just the right subject–a moment he defines as “magic"-he quickly snaps the shutter to translate the scene into a photographic composition, frozen in time. The resulting images are a true reflection of human interaction. Pedro’s photography feels both honest and cinematographic, sparking our curiosities and imaginations.
