I was fortunate enough to work with The Nature Conservancy of Nebraska a few years ago, and was invited to join a small group of photographers to trek out to The Platte River to witness the annual Sandhill Crane migration, as almost 500,000 of these birds made a pit stop along the river, on their way from Canada to Mexico. It was incredible to have the opportunity to silently wait in the blinds as the skies went dark, then to hear and see thousands of these giant birds come together so closely.
