This image was captured at the municipal library in Lund, Sweden. The shot is 100% spontaneous and not staged, living up to street photography's spirit and authenticity. I like particularly the student's folded legs, face hidden behind her hair and body posture. The books piled on the table and the piece of clothing hanging on the chair opposite suggest she has been there for awhile. The glass wall and white building facade outside are crucial for the luminosity of this composition.
"Pluggandet" is a Swedish term (informal) for reading/studying.
Pedro Cesar is a Portuguese street photographer currently living in Sweden. His work is based on the constant search for aesthetic moments in everyday life. When Pedro comes upon just the right subject–a moment he defines as “magic"-he quickly snaps the shutter to translate the scene into a photographic composition, frozen in time. The resulting images are a true reflection of human interaction. Pedro’s photography feels both honest and cinematographic, sparking our curiosities and imaginations.
