A juvenile barred owl on a cool fall evening. Rachel explains that this particular owl had suffered an injury. However, a wildlife photographer friend of hers discovered this and caught, rehabbed, and re-released the bird in this area.
The work of Rachel Lauren showcases her deep love for canines, and particularly wolves. “William Wegman has his weimaraners, and I have my wolfdogs,” Rachel jokes. At a young age, she learned to train and show dogs, and also developed a love of photography. After earning a BFA in Photography from the Columbus College of Art and Design, Rachel set her sights on working with her true passion - wolves. She focused her attention on launching an ambassador program called Ironwood Wolves, where she and her partner raise and train wolves and foxes. Rachel spends her days with her animals shooting new work, collaborating with other artists and hosting educational lectures for the public. She enjoys photographing wolves in relaxed moods to showcase their more sensitive side. “I live to photograph the animals that I am lucky to share my life with,” says Rachel. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and shown in galleries and art fairs in New York, Los Angeles and Columbus, Ohio.
