About
This
Artwork

An engaging street photograph of a group of friends inside a cafe. The city reflection on the window sets the stage. One of the figures looks out and makes eye contact. Part of photographer Adam Garelick's long-running series of New York City scenes. Since 2002, Adam has spent countless hours walking the streets of Manhattan shooting with a film camera. "I am guided by my curiosity - wandering city blocks and anticipating what each moment might hold."

Adam Garelick

West Hartford, Connecticut

Adam Garelick enjoys taking photographs that challenge the viewers’ perceptions of certain subjects. His photographs of New York try to capture a much quieter city than the fast-paced metropolis most people picture. To capture his unique snapshots, he primarily shoots late at night and works in black-and-white photography. The photography of artists like Stephen Shore and Robert Adams continue to influence his work. When he’s not photographing, he tries to be outdoors as much as possible; he enjoys golfing, running and hiking. Even during these activities, he looks for new subjects to photograph. He currently lives in Connecticut.
