The shadows of Manhattan begin to consume lower Broadway as afternoon fast approaches. A lone car travels south, away from the camera. This grainy black and white image reminds me of the anonymity of city life.
Adam Garelick enjoys taking photographs that challenge the viewers’ perceptions of certain subjects. His photographs of New York try to capture a much quieter city than the fast-paced metropolis most people picture. To capture his unique snapshots, he primarily shoots late at night and works in black-and-white photography. The photography of artists like Stephen Shore and Robert Adams continue to influence his work. When he’s not photographing, he tries to be outdoors as much as possible; he enjoys golfing, running and hiking. Even during these activities, he looks for new subjects to photograph. He currently lives in Connecticut.
