About this artwork
Patricia set up her easel at one of her favorite spots along the American River and painted a small study of the early morning scene. Then she went back to her studio and for several days created a series of paintings from the study and photos that she took. She explored a variety of color palettes - analogous, monochromatic and just the local colors. She found the yellow ochres, rusty oranges and olive greens of this painting to be the most visually pleasing.
