One professor, Marian-Ortolf Bagley, often said that a painting must work in all directions to be truly unified. So J. would test works by hanging them upside down, and in each direction. J. sold some paintings in Minneapolis after graduation, but went on to manage the ink and paint department of an animation studio. The intense hues of the inking technique, along with Paul Klee’s use of transparent color, strongly influence her current body of work.
