This piece is part of an ongoing series of work and uses sculptural stripes to form the human figure. The relief is created with pigmented resin cast on wood panel and sealed with white acrylic paint. The sides of the cradled wood panel are painted white and the work comes ready to hang.

Philippe Jestin

Twentynine Palms, California

Philippe Jestin's work straddles the line between the figurative and the abstract. He works with material as well as subject matter to define new spaces and create a sense of fluidity. His most iconic work features layers of resin to create strong lines. Many of his pieces have a sculptural dimension and a decisive edge like a bas-relief.

Hi Ben This work is one in a serie I started a few years ago, it is from one of my wife fingers, you can probably find which one on the back of the work. the prints were collected with a rudimentary type of microscope, not giving so much information from the print and identity of the person . It follows my interest in the rendering of fabric apply to the body , in this case the skin being the fabric. My work about the body revolves in many ways around matters of identity ," negative" and "positive" spaces. Best to you, Philippe
