About this artwork
Suzanne began this oil painting in the fall while the oaks and prairie grasses near her studio were changing color. She then finished the work in her studio over the winter. The oak tree with yellowing leaves is the main theme, she explains, and I used the strong winds blowing through the grasses to complete the scene. Suzanne says a refrain from an Irish song was her inspiration - While soft the wind blew down the glen and shook the golden barley.
