Onelio Marrero
Rockaway, New Jersey

Onelio Marrero paints city scenes of everyday life. In an impressionistic style he captures the romanticism of New York City, the picturesque fountains in Central Park and the wet city streets after a rainy afternoon. His use of warm tones creates a sense of nostalgia and the feeling that you have visited or seen this particular scene before. Onelio will often paint from direct observation, or he will work from a combination of photographs and combine numerous sources into one piece. In this way his work combines reality with fantasy, creating a new story with each painting. His work captures an appreciation for beauty in all of its greatest forms; nature, art, and people.

I purchased your "Bubble Meditation" and absolutely love it. I am not a connoisseur, just a normal person that likes what I like. I love a painting that pulls me into it and makes me part of the moment, your paintings do that. I will enjoy my painting for a long time to come. Thank you!

Actual painting exceeded expectations. Yes it certainly triggered a memory back thirty plus years of a dinner at a small, Italian New York restaurant which was a seminal point in my life. The impressionistic style fits perfectly with the vagueness of my recollection. The warm colors totally reflect the mood of that night. So as the song says "thanks for the memories".

This painting is named appropriately, for it brings serenity to the one gazing at it! Very peaceful and calm and the water looks so real it feels as if one might be splashed by a wayward drop as you pass by. Thank you so much for this magnificent calming piece!

I love my “Two Man Pour” painting as it is detailed by nature. I saw mirror image and mirror reflection with facial features, which are exquisitely realistic. The rust medium reminds me of Jean-Honore Fragonard. My next painting from you was going to be ‘Almost Closing Time” which I lost to another collector. ‘When you snooze, you lose’ It will not happen again. Bravo Onelio Marrero.

Comments About This Piece

While boating on a lake near a friend's house in Connecticut, I came across this lovely scene. The water was like a mirror that day except for the occasional light kiss of wind on the water. I was reminded of the legendary ancient Jerusalem Pool of Siloam found in the New Testament. The surface of the water in the pool in Jerusalem was occasionally disturbed by an angel of healing and the first bather to go in after such a disturbance was healed of any affliction. In a way, I found the play of the wind kissing the water in the lake to be healing to my soul.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished white edges. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Oil painting

Oil paint uses natural oils, such as linseed, poppy and walnut oil to bind the pigments. Oils are slow to dry, which allows the artist to rework the painting to achieve the desired effect. Also, they blend easily, which helps to achieve certain colors. With the rise of naturalism in 15th century Early Netherlandish painting, oil paints became preferred to quick drying tempera paint. Artists wanted a medium that would allow them to achieve detailed and precise effects in their paintings. Consider all of the detail in the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch!

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
