I look out over a stand of pine trees that have seeded themselves. You can see the small "volunteer" trees. A field of corn does the same thing, volunteering a sprout here and there in the soybean field the following year. Snow blankets the land. The hour before sunset has turned the sky pink and orange.

This gallery wrapped painting is custom framed in a shadow box presentation that measures 32 x 44 inches, and 1.5 inches in depth. The 24 x 36 canvas is securely attached to a linen covered backing in 4 places through the painting's wood stretcher bars. Linen spacers and a white washed wood molding complete the look. The linen gives light and space to the painting. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Suzanne

When the land changes, Suzanne Massion’s paintings will remind you of the way it once was. She drives the back roads through the tall grass prairies and farmland of her native Illinois, stopping to paint en plein air when the moment strikes. She feels like she’s in a race to save a disappearing treasure as buildings burn or open space is paved over. Suzanne donates a portion of her sales to fund local land conservation efforts.
