About this artwork

The inspiration for this painting came from a visit to the Rodin Museum in Paris, says artist Faye Vander Veer. As a painter, I always get excited when I see students being exposed to fine art. I found this scene particularly charming as I listened to the teacher discussing Rodin's famous sculpture and demonstrating 'The Kiss.' The body posture of the figures, the spatial quality, and the use of impressionist brushwork create a sense of depth and a welcome invitation for the viewer.
