Ye Waverly Inn is a charming restaurant in a historic townhouse on Bank Street in the West Village of New York. The beauty of a spring day in full bloom lifted my spirits and inspired this colorful, lively street view. The painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished yellow edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Ellen

Ellen Bradshaw paints the city of New York in oils. Inspired by the Ashcan painters of the early 20th century, she is drawn to the common everydayness of life in the city, and perhaps what is hidden just beneath the surface of the ordinary. With an eye for the spontaneous, she always carries a camera just in case she sees something she will use one day in her paintings. Preferring to work in a series, Ellen recently completed a collection of oil paintings from the High Line, dedicated to her now-deceased friend Ethel Schlesinger, who urged her to visit. The series depicts a walk along the abandoned-rail yard-turned-park both in summer and winter, along with a unique vantage point of the city streets below. Fun fact: Ellen is the president of Pleiades Gallery, an artist-run gallery in Chelsea.
