This painting was made with oil paint and cold wax on a cradled wood panel. The main colors are several shades of soft teal and cream, but there are many more colors to discover. The overall appeal is very soft and neutral. The sides are painted a soft cream color and the work comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Hilma

Hilma Koelman has traveled the world, but always found herself coming back to the ocean. Her years living in Curacao, a tropical island in the Caribbean, provided endless inspiration for her art, from the deep turquoise of the water to the colorful buildings of the island. Now living in South Florida, Hilma uses her abstract paintings to express her passion and energy. She may go through states of happiness, struggling, or insecurity when she’s creating a work of art, but she always arrives at a feeling of satisfaction, at which point she knows the painting is finished.
