This view of Montreal can only be taken from a boat. I took this scene from a sailboat during a sunny day. The old clock tower welcomes us while the seagulls remind us of the open water from this point to the ocean. The treatment is loose, airy just like the wind that was moving our boat.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Eric

Eric Vanasse grew up in Montreal, where the classical methods of drawing and painting are no longer taught in most superior art schools. Instead, he gained his knowledge and skills by studying rigorously under American and European classically-trained artists who founded schools dedicated to the classical traditions. This path allowed Eric to merge the rich traditions of the past, the scientific knowledge of the last decades, and a contemporary spontaneity that gives a breath of life to painting. His intention is to capture the inherent beauty in life and bring a reflection on our life as humans and on our environment in a way that is not preaching.
