I am inspired by the salt marsh landscape of the east coast, especially where inlet waters meet the ocean. This scene is my impression of a summer storm and warm morning light casting colors on the water. The painting is on a gallery wrapped linen canvas with finished black edges and comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Nancy

Reflected in Nancy Hughes Miller’s paintings are the coastal and rural environments of southeastern North Carolina, her birthplace, where she still spends much of her time. As a child, Nancy’s primary education did not include art classes, so she was delighted when one day her oldest brother returned home from college with newsprint and charcoal. She went on to pursue a career path in graphic design and fine arts. Now a full-time artist, Nancy experiments with vibrant colors and fluid forms to create her non-traditional, painterly landscapes. She enjoys working with oils, a medium that dries slowly and lends itself nicely to blending. Nancy strives to produce artwork that is, according to her, “quiet, yet bold.”
