This canvas is painted in oil and it is filled with warm and cool color contrasts, curved shapes, straight lines, and thick and smooth brush strokes. A slight black outline defines the elements. In just a few lines I revealed this new universe. The clothing of the character looks like a stylized kimono. The bird is both part of the garment and the environment. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Clemence

Initially everything is abstract, gestural and intuitive for Clemence Dubois. A shape becomes a bird, a fish, a flower or a character. Her paintings capture colors and shapes that words have yet to say. She says, “I want people to look at my paintings and observe my feelings for beauty in all forms and my joy of living that permeates my art.” Clemence likes to read, watch television, swim and travel. She also leads workshops in creative and figurative painting.
