I was inspired by a late afternoon walk along a path in the countryside leading to the mountains. I was in Vermont working as an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center. I took many walks through the beautiful landscape surrounding the center. While I was there, I made many small paintings and took many photographs, and I continue to use those as inspiration in my San Francisco studio.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished dark brown edges. It comes varnished and wired to hang.

Getting to Know Victoria

Victoria Veedell loves capturing the essence of nature by creating landscapes that are not necessarily seen, but felt. She enjoys traveling and has completed residencies everywhere from India to Japan. When she’s not painting, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring. She finds inspiration in everything she sees, such as the moody and misty qualities of fog. Victoria currently lives in California. Fun fact: she is from Texas but no one would ever guess that unless they tried her spicy Lasagna — it includes jalapeños!
