Mickey Cunningham has been painting outdoors since college, and still spends much of her time creating plein air landscapes. Of this piece, Mickey explains "The fading pink in the sky and the early morning light skimming the trees and buildings caught my fancy. I was also attracted to the high vantage point. I wanted to capture the peaceful early morning before town awakens."
Saint Cloud, Minnesota
Mickey Cunningham is an impressionist painter from Minnesota who uses loose brushwork and vibrant colors to create landscapes and figurative artwork. Her work is inspired by the Pennsylvania Impressionists Fern Coppedge and Edward Redfield. Throughout her portfolio, she explores adding new abstract elements and experimental colors. In her figurative work, Mickey avoids overly specific or narrative details so that each viewer can interpret it in his or her own way.
