Gloria Blatt
Toronto, Canada

Gloria Blatt loves to capture energy and movement in her works through the use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes. She finds inspiration in everything from oceans to people, and some of her favorite artists include Picasso, Manet and Haring. A cardiologist in Texas decorated his whole office with her work because his patients said her art made them feel better. When she’s not making art, she loves to cook using fresh, locally grown produce. She currently lives in Canada. Fun fact: she rarely uses an easel to paint, instead painting her canvases on the floor.

After we bought our new house, I went on the hunt for the perfect painting. I wasn't looking for something just to complement our decor; I was looking for something special that I would love looking at every day. I found it in "Statues in the Park." It brings color and energy to a room that every member of our family and every visitor to our home sees and enjoys. We love the colors and have received many complements on the quality of the piece. Thank you Ms. Blatt.

Thank you for viewing these 'images from my imagination'. My paintings have achieved what I set out to do if they have elicited any feelings of joy, wonder, or spirituality in the viewer.

Comments About This Piece

Oil paints richly colored and textured on museum stretched gallery canvas. Sides are painted black and the painting is protected with a final coat of varnish.

Oil painting

Oil paint uses natural oils, such as linseed, poppy and walnut oil to bind the pigments. Oils are slow to dry, which allows the artist to rework the painting to achieve the desired effect. Also, they blend easily, which helps to achieve certain colors. With the rise of naturalism in 15th century Early Netherlandish painting, oil paints became preferred to quick drying tempera paint. Artists wanted a medium that would allow them to achieve detailed and precise effects in their paintings. Consider all of the detail in the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch!

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
