To say that I love old Quebec city is putting it mildly. This scene of a quaint side street cafe and plaza was too good a subject to pass up. This painting is busier and more crowded than my usual painting style, and required more time and care in the laying in of elements.

This painting was done in oil on 140 lb watercolor paper mounted on birch plywood. It will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Robert

Robert Holewinski paints realistic places with his own spin, and also throws in some fictional characters like Shrek. He currently lives in Florida and finds inspiration in the work of artists like Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Paul Cézanne. In his work, and that of others, he enjoys being able to see each brush stroke. Fun fact: he used to work for Disney.
