Such a lovely kitty, and so many colors in the fur! This is one of the things that fascinates me about painting cats and why I keep on painting them. The many colors, and the texture of their soft fur. And, of course, their facial expressions. Cats can display so many emotions with their eyes and ears especially. This kitty looks like she is alert and happy. This piece is on canvas board and will need a frame for display.
Gratitude goes to "HiddenYume-Stock" of DeviantArt for the photo I used as inspiration for this painting.
Growing up in Southern California, J. Dunster got her start in the art world by selling celebrity portraits to fans - and sometimes even the celebs themselves. She moved on to study drawing, anatomy, and painting at Otis College of Art & Design, and now specializes in oil paintings of portraits, figures and animals. She paints to find the beauty and nobility in things, capturing emotion, drama and silliness. She says quite a few of her models act surprised by what they see in her portraits, “as if I discovered something more noble or beautiful in them. But it's not a put-on, that *is* what I see in them.”
