This painting was inspired by a relaxing afternoon spent floating down the river in the backwaters of Kerela, India. I watched as we made our way through the floating river hyacinths. I want the viewer to feel like they are also on this journey. The painting has vibrant colors and texture made with a palette knife and brushstrokes. I painted the sides of the gallery wrapped canvas black and it comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Victoria

Victoria Veedell loves capturing the essence of nature by creating landscapes that are not necessarily seen, but felt. She enjoys traveling and has completed residencies everywhere from India to Japan. When she’s not painting, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring. She finds inspiration in everything she sees, such as the moody and misty qualities of fog. Victoria currently lives in California. Fun fact: she is from Texas but no one would ever guess that unless they tried her spicy Lasagna — it includes jalapeños!
