About this artwork
Artist Mandy Main based this painting on a walk she took in Tuscany just after a rainstorm. Billowing clouds float in the robin's egg blue sky. Long shadows extend into the yellow-green foreground, drawing the eye to the pathway through the field. I used oil paint with cold wax medium applied with silicon wedges, not brushes, to creates the painterly, textured composition, says Mandy. The cheerful sky and verdant greens evoke a cool, healing landscape - a retreat to natural abundance.
