This painting was done on a warm summer day at a local teaching farm in the hills above Silicon Valley.  This is the summer I discovered Zinnias.  While I was painting them, an Anna's Hummingbird stopped by for a visit. I did not paint him though, he was moving a bit fast.

Getting to Know Ann

Ann’s artistic career has been an adventure in many styles of painting. She began with science and botanical illustration, followed by an exploration of portraiture and figure painting, and then pursued plein air landscape painting. Ann is now focusing on small impressionist still lifes, while continuing to experiment with landscapes and abstraction on the side. “My biggest obstacle as a painter is my fascination with doing new and different styles and media,” she says. “It is an ongoing struggle and adventure.” However, she has discovered pure joy in still life. The artist finds spending time with fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers a treasured opportunity for true observation.
